Today's Topic: Making Your Social Media a Positive Place
We all know the feeling of scrolling through stories and posts, seeing all of the fun things everyone else is up to, and feeling like we aren't good enough. It's so easy to get jealous when all that we are shown is picture perfect images, with no flaws or realness. To make matters worse, these social media pages are designed for you to feel this way.
This isn't just a theory, real studies have shown that increased social media use leads to more of a dissatisfaction with life, poorer mental health and wellbeing, depression, anxiety, and isolation. Social media platforms play on this, and specifically show you certain images that are designed to keep you scrolling for longer, therefore exposing y0u to even more of these posts.
The first thing you can do to make your feed a more positive place is to unfollow any and all accounts that make you feel negatively. Better yet, block them. There is no reason to continuously expose yourself to something that does not make you feel good. Your mental health is so much more important than that.
You can also limit the time you spend checking social media. It can be easy to get lost in your feed, scrolling for hours, but setting a timer is a great way to remind yourself to stop. You can get up, get outside, and do something productive.
At the end of the day, the most important thing to realize is that social media is fake. Behind every perfect picture is endless editing, and it is important to remember that no one's life is perfect, regardless of how it seems from their account. You are still worthy, and nothing can take that away from you!
